Taking place on Friday 7th October at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, #NPBIC22 works to ensure that children and young people with acquired brain injury have the opportunity to live the best life possible.

The theme for this event is “breaking down barriers: creating an equal playing field for children with acquired brain injury”.

This event welcomes industry professionals from a wide range of backgrounds and speakers to present from across the world. This year will continue to lead the way in paediatric conferencing with a hybrid model, where attendees can visit either online or in person.

Demonstrating upper limb rehabilitation technology

Visit our stand in the exhibition area to talk about our technology and see a demonstration of two of our upper limb rehabilitation devices from the Armeo range: the ArmeoSpring and the ArmeoSenso. The range addresses different patient and therapeutic needs across the different stages of rehabilitation, from acute rehabilitation to moderately-impaired outpatient therapy. Read more.

The ArmeoSpring features an adjustable exoskeleton with optional paediatric orthoses which supports the whole arm, from shoulder to hand, and counterbalances the weight of the patient’s arm. Clinics like Ascot Rehab have reported “outstanding results” with the ArmeoSpring:

“High intensity training is one of the key determinants of motor recovery which robotic therapy can offer. When combined with conventional therapy, robotic therapy yields largely favourable outcomes in terms of improving motor control, reducing motor deficits, and increasing ability to carry out activities of daily living… The results of the present pilot study suggest that upper limb functionality can be positively influenced by robotic therapy combined with a traditional therapy program.”   Read more.

The ArmeoSenso is the sensor-based solution for patients with moderate to mild impairment who have progressed to self-initiated therapy. Hospitals like University Children’s Hospital Zurich use the ArmeoSenso with their paediatric patients:

“The ArmeoSenso fills a niche in our range of technologies, as it allows us to focus specifically on training selective movements as well as strength-endurance in those children who can lift their arm against gravity… Due to the combination with game-like exercises, the children like to train with the device and perform many repetitions of arm and hand movements. This supports the recovery of arm and hand motor function (for example, reaching workspace and movement coordination).”  Read more.
