Rehabilitation after COVID-19

Hocoma has recently shared an interesting case study of a patient using the Andago to retrain walking after pneumonia in Changi General Hospital, Singapore. This patient was recently hospitalised, needing ventilator support and ICU care. Following release to the general ward, the patient was unable to ambulate further than 3m, even with physical support, and she had a dependency on oxygen. And here is where the Andago came in.

Especially in these challenging times where an increasing number of patients are recovering from COVID-19, this article can be really helpful for all clinicians out there looking to harness the technology they already use to support new COVID-19 patients.

Empowering patients and therapists

The Andago removes the restraints of traditional gait therapy, which means that therapists aren’t exposed to physical strain. Clinicians can focus on delivering high-quality rehabilitation rather than the security and stability of their patient.

Using the Andago‘s flexible body weight support system allows your patient to move without the fear of falling, becoming unstable, or getting injured. The Andago will allow them to move freely, hands-free and upright, within a safe environment. As the therapist, you can take a step back and assess their movement, providing feedback and monitoring their progress throughout gait, balance and stability tasks.

Clinical trials
