Six months on: how Miles Better Fitness have been using ddrobotec®
ddrobotec
We caught up with Miles Johnson, Owner of Miles Better Fitness and our ddrobotec® showcase partner, to see how his clients have been using this innovative robotrainer over the last six months.
Six months on, how have you been getting on with ddrobotec®?

The ddrobotec® has become part of our everyday, we have a booking system which gives users 45 minute slots to complete any fitness testing, workouts and then often 10 to 15 minutes of using the exergames to finish off a session. We also use the machine to finish off a PT session and have found some really good results when just using once a week for 10-15 minutes consistently.
Has the way you use ddrobotec® at Miles Better Fitness changed over the last six months?
I’d say that I’ve definitely gotten more confidence when selecting specific workouts for people with specific goals or areas of weaknesses. I wouldn’t say that the way we use the ddrobotec® has necessarily changed that much, people still love using it and keep improving on their test scores, even when using just once a week as mentioned above.
Who is your longest-standing ddrobotec® client and how have they been using it?

We have a selection of long time users, as mentioned above a few PT clients that may complete a workout on it to finish off a session. The gym users who can book a 45 minute slot may start with a warm up protocol then if scheduled do a fitness test followed by a 15 minute workout programme often aimed at improving an area of weakness. They then might finish off with the exergames for a bit of fun or to complete the exergame challenge of the month that we may of set.
We also have a gym user called Martyn who’s into his cycling who uses the machine maybe twice a week, he’s seen massive improvements in his cycling performance. He tends to complete a wide variety of the workout programmes. I asked him about his usage and this is what he had to say:
“As an amateur cyclist my training has traditionally consisted of time on the bike and basic weight training. Since starting MBF Gym and training regularly on the ddrobotec I have been able to train my legs in a way that I would have never been able to do previously both in scope and consistency. This has resulted in significant gains in my cycling performance for power and endurance.”
As a trainer, how has ddrobotec® made an impact in your gym over the last six months?
Very much so, it gives people a completely different training experience to what they are used to. It’s like a their own personal training session where the workouts are easy to follow and based around goals and weaknesses. As Martyn is quoted in saying above he has been able to train his legs in a way that he has never been able to before in both scope and consistency.
How has using the ddrobotec® data insights developed over time?
The data insights have been a massive help in motivation for people. They can actually see themselves improving, the machine is giving feedback on every drill or workout they do comparing it to their past workouts/ tests and to other people’s of the same age, sex and weight.
What do you think is the biggest benefit of having technology like ddrobotec® in your gym?
As mentioned above the ddrobotec® has so many benefits. The main one for us has to be the data aspect and how we can then use this data to create goals and plan future workouts that can then be closely monitored on the machine.
Has anything surprised you about ddrobotec®?
I’m always surprised at how people keep improving, test scores keep improving even with a minimum usage of just once a week for 15 minutes.
